Social media marketing can be an extremely cost-effective tool to reach new customers, increase brand recognition, and develop customer loyalty. Social media provides businesses with an opportunity to humanise their brands while showing what goes on behind the scenes of your business. At Global River, we assist businesses in expanding their social following with tailored branded social media packages available as part of our Digital Marketing services.
Social Media Managers are accountable for developing and overseeing a company’s social media strategy, using their expertise to increase engagement, gain followers, and build brand recognition. They often collaborate closely with communications and digital marketing teams in creating campaigns with measurable KPIs that meet success metrics.
Social media managers’ roles extend far beyond posting for their company; in reality, their duties and responsibilities include content planning, performance analysis, community management, copywriting and copyediting. To gain an accurate representation of this role, Socialinsider surveyed over 1,000 professionals who manage one or more social media accounts to gather their responses, which were then cross-referenced with 11 in-depth one-on-one interviews conducted to gain a comprehensive view of this job role.
Most respondents (84%) reported their daily tasks often include writing and scheduling posts, monitoring social channels for comments and messages, analyzing performance metrics, as well as spending a considerable amount of time creating visual content and campaigns to increase engagement, as well as performing customer service-related activities such as responding to inquiries or concerns.
Additionally, most respondents reported meeting regularly with digital marketing and communications team members to discuss campaign goals and review analytics reports. Furthermore, time was also spent working closely with departments like PR and advertising in ensuring all messaging remains consistent across channels.
While many respondents work full-time as Social Media Managers, it’s important to recognize that not everyone can do the job successfully. Success requires possessing specific qualities as well as having strong organizational and communication abilities – something many are lacking today.
Social Media Managers should possess additional qualifications such as an understanding of current trends and developments within social media, along with creative problem-solving skills to find unique solutions tailored specifically for each situation. Hootsuite and Buffer are ideal tools for social media managers looking to maximize efficiency, but there are other ways of starting down this path towards becoming one. Application procedures and online searching should also be undertaken for available roles; it’s important to remember that salary varies greatly based on location and industry.
